Getting into music is... weird, to say the least. For most of my
life I didn't listen to nothing except for SiIvaGunner, and while
I still listen to that group very often, I would say that exclusively
listening to VGM and Mashups held me back by not letting me diversify
my pallette and find what I want to listen to.
I already made a page abt what my favorite albums, or atleast
ones I find interesting.
I feel like a lot of people -- myself formerly included have like
weird relationship when it comes to music, finding their proprietary
nerd shit to be somehow, objectively better than most other kinds, I used to do this with
SiIvaGunner when I was really young, but with time I've realized that it's goofy as hell to
be like "my taste in music is objectively better than yours". :skull:
I feel like a lot of people, especially in the VGM community, are like that.
I assume it's in response to people who listen to more mainstream tracks
lord that over people for being freakin' nerds, but I ultimately think that
listening exclusively to any type of music, be it VGM or music released by more mainstream groups or artists.
I don't know if I was just hanging with the wrong people or if VGM superiority is a real thing. in larger communities.
Anyways, since I have the opportunity, I'm likely going to try and get a show on my
campus' radio. I'm thinking I'll play mostly electronic music, citing both things like
Daft Punk or Justice, y'know, more conventional acts, but also some funky shit like
Aphex Twin. Likely some other stuff too, I want to explore as much as possible.
I know it's rich for ME of all people to be on campus radio, but eh, they have timeslots a plenty I'm sure.
Anyways I guess that'll be it, kinda scatterbrained but that's where I'm at right now.
