Imagine This; You search for regular video game music, click on a video, and find it sounds slightly off. Maybe it starts in the wrong key, or the notes seem slightly off, or anything of that nature, and with time, you notice this wasn't some mistake in the recording or whatever, but instead intentional manipulation- especially when some familiar melody or vocals come in. You, my friend, have just been SIIvaGunnered.

SiIvaGunner is a musical collective that has been active since 2016, making various "rips" of video game music over the last decade. These rips often start out normal enough, but are revealed to be mashups, have altered melodies (melodyswaps), or be full arrangements of tracks. These rips are uploading with only partial informations, usually only showing one of the sources used, if that. This factor of suprise is one of my favorite things about SiIvaGunner, as it means that not only are new people tricked, but longtime fans don't know quite what to expect from any given upload either (with rare exceptions).

SiIvaGunner rips use a variety of music, from silly mashups to genuinely fully featured arragements.
A good example of the type of content one can expect from SiIvaGunner is their featured video, Athletic Theme (PAL Version) - Super Mario World, a remix of the Athletic Theme melody swapped to 'Witch Doctor", before being mashed up with the afformentioned track. While much of SiIvaGunner is similar novelty music, a lot of music made by the group is genuine attempts to remix video game music with other sources. Take for instance the series of Micheal Jackson's Moonwalker rips that take various MJ songs and redo them in a Genesis style. The Rip Human Nature - Michael Jackson's Moonwalker is a good example of this.

To be entirely honest, I love SiIvaGunner, both their novelty music and their more serious arrangments, and they've done a lot of really cool stuff in their time around. For instance, SiIvaGunner Fusion Records, or SGFR, a subgroup of the SiIva team that uploads arrangment albums of various sources. I beleive their best work is probably Jet Set Radio Evolution, a series of JSR inspired tracks. Highlights Include HANDS UP HIGH (Highball Bounce), along with the 2 tracks that sample Family Guy, A Funky Moment and He's a Family Guy, as with most SiIvaGunner projects, there's a good mix of both serious musical talent and comedic sampling.

SiIvaGunner has also unironically introduced me to a lot of music as well, I remember shortly after Kendrick Lamar dropped Euphoria, SiIvaGunner made the rip Coffee Break (Short Version) - MOTHER 3, a rip of the song, and it was genuinely my first introduction to Kendrick Lamar. Genuinely really funny to me that one of my favorite rappers I only found through SiIvaGunner commenting on a current rap beef. It's not just that though, a lot of SiIvaGunner rips feature music I otherwise wouldn't be aware of or games that are off my radar. Lethal Leauge Blaze I bought because I liked the music, which I only dicovered through SiIvaGunner using their works.

SiIvaGunner also does a lot of events, I remember distinctly the one for C418's Birthday where they ripped nothing but C418s non-Minecraft tracks, which made me check out his work, and I ended up really enjoying it, to the point of featuring Excursions on my list of favorite albums. Other events I like include the Gabe Newell Takeover, which included a bunch of rips of Valve titles and references to the community surrounding the games, The annual PSY Day and April Fools events, and King for A(nother) Day, a tournament to decide who would end up recieving an event. (there was far more to this, but story for another time).

Overall, SiIvaGunner has changed my life in a lot of ways, and while I could go at length about a lot of things, this seems like as good a place as any to end this post. I recommend checking out SiIvaGunner.wiki , for more information, as they try to document every rip, event, and joke the channel has had in its 10+ years of operation.
