Getting started

What is SiIvaGunner?

What is Ripping?

Rips for Newcomers

Season 4

Season 4 of SiIvaGunner was split into two paets, Season 4, and Season 4 Episode 2. Episode 1 was filled with leadup and release to the King for Another Day tournament, and Season 4 Episode 2 was mostly normal rips, albeit with the Summer and Winter Festivals, Super-events filled with themed rips and more events than usual. Midway through Season 4, Chaze the Chat dissappeared from the internet, but SiIva team has kept the channel running since his departure. Longtime contributor Marrow also would pass away during this season, leading to a tribute event.

MAGFest and Termination

After Season 3's Christmas special featuring the Grinch taking over the chanel and leaking Super Smash Bros. Ultimate rips, SiIvaGunner would enter Season 4 in a bit of a rough spot. The main SiivaGunner channel had been taken down, and SiivaGunner2 had been created in it's place. SiIvaGunner2 would reupload old rips every hour, and thankfully didn't have to stick around for long. It now serves as a place for Siiva to post various MAGFest related content, such as their Chipspace sets.

Off to a rough start, eh?
Well SiIva would eventually get the main channel back, and be able to continue uploading, but early Season 4 really was a scary time to be a fan, as there was no certainty that all rips would be reuploaded, or that SiIvaGunner2 would last. Ultimately things cooled off with time though.

King for ANOTHER Day

While King for a Day was born from an accidental pause in uploads caused because of several takedowns issued in a row on older rips, King for Another Day was far more intentional in it's start. King for Another Day would start with 32 contestants instead of 16, and be double instead of single elimination. KFAD2 is one of my personal favorite events, being 3 months of nothing but arrangments and voting on who should be the king... for the day.

While KFAD2 had a story told through the Mojo, I don't feel like writing about that right now, because it is long, and while fun, boils down to people being like "sorry you lost bro", and for the characters of interest, they largely didn't change due to their experience. MissingNo. and Monokuma would largely continue to do what they've always done.
That's right, there are newcomers, such as Law and Disorder, a group of Phoenix Wright and Monokuma, MissingNo., the famous Pokemon glitch, and Maria Takeuchi. All three of whom made it to the final four, along with vetran fighter DJ Professor K. DJPK would win the tournament, and have a hype as hell takeover for all the Jet Set Radio fans in the audience.

DJPK Day

What seperated DJPK day from most other takeovers, beyond the sheer scale of 300-odd rips, was the fact that there was also a livestream of rips created for the event, This stream would feature custom visuals, along with various fake advertisements and bumpers. Though taken down for copyright, it was quite an experience. SiIvaGunner still streams rarely today, most recently with backend, but it's infrequent, and these lager events are really special. This fits with the idea of Jet Set Radio, considering K was the radio host in his home series. This also started the Jet Set Radio Evolution series, which would continue to get rips as SGFR took up the mantle. The JSRE rips are clearly the highlighht of the event, with many of them being really, really good. Overall, It's quite epic.

Summer and Winter Festivals

Season 4 also included Summer- and Winterfes, themed super-events akin to the halloween and christmas ones which SiIva team had been doing since Season 2. These events were really fun, and helped to define the flavor of of their season, especially coming off of KFAD2. SiIVa would continue summer and winter festivals going into future seasons. My favorite major event from SiiVaSummer has to be the Phineas and Ferb takeover, as there were so many good references to things from the series. P&F had many songs throughout it's run, so seeing it featured on SiIva with their typical style and flair was a treat.
WinterFes was also fun, with the continuation of rips for Paper Mario's 20th anniversary, among other events.

Passing of Marrow

Unfortunately, during Season 4, SiIva team would become aware of the passing of longtime contributor Marrow, a speedrunner and backroom member of the channel. National Go Fishing Day, which was announced before his death, would become the first tribute event for a deceased contributor on the channel. Later, in Season 6, a similar event would be held for the late R.L. 99. Marrow had contriuted to SiIvaGunner since 2016, and was known for his love of Ultimate Angler, a streetpass game on 3DS. The loss of a contributor was tragic, and ultimately King for Another Day would be dedicated to him and the deceased streamer Etika. In addition to the Season 4 tribute event, a second tribute event and OST completion for Ultimate Angler would be held in 2023.

Season 4 is an interesting season, and I'm Unfortunately leaving a lot out from here. KFAD 2 is still the largest project SiIva has ever put out, and the loss of Marrow is still felt today. It's hard to summarize Season 4 cleanly, especially when you look beyond King for Another Day, so I'll leave off by saying that despite never knowing Marrow myself, he was clearly loved by the people around him. May he rest in peace.
